Overview

Defence Access is a specialist market-access initiative for technical and dual-use companies that could serve the UK defence supply chain but have not yet built a credible route in. Its stated aim is to map the accounts that matter, identify the people inside them and help open qualified commercial conversations with primes, partners and defence-adjacent buyers.

It offers commercial market access, not procurement, certification or Ministry of Defence advisory services, and says it introduces specialist partners where readiness, procurement or certification expertise is needed.

It applies the account-mapping, stakeholder-research and outreach practice of Lead Conneqt to defence and other regulated markets, as commercial and go-to-market experience.

The opportunity

Defence Access's own account of the problem is that plenty of capable suppliers could serve defence but never build a credible route in. The problem is rarely capability. The routes are fragmented, the buyers are hard to reach, and the work of building a defence pipeline sits awkwardly between sales, marketing and strategy.

For context, the Ministry of Defence has set a target of £7.5 billion in direct and indirect spending with small and medium-sized enterprises by May 2028, an increase of £2.5 billion.

What it offers

The service is organised around four capabilities, which are prime and partner access, go-to-market and pipeline, opportunity intelligence, and event-led market access.

  • Prime and partner mapping

Identifying the primes, tier-one suppliers and teaming partners that matter to a supplier, and the people inside them.

  • Opportunity intelligence

Monitoring and prioritising public defence opportunity sources, filtered to what actually fits the supplier.

  • A route-to-market audit

A fixed-scope diagnostic of where a company fits and which routes are realistic. Engagements then run up to a managed programme with weekly reporting.

  • Event-led market access

Turning defence events into qualified pipeline through event selection, pre-event meetings and structured follow-up. Defence Access is independent of every event organiser.
